Neodrone: V1 Design Progress

The V1 hardware design is complete!.

Neodrone V1: Hardware Deep Dive

I’ve been iterating on the hardware design, and we’re officially in the V1 phase. The goal is a compact, rigid, and high-performance 3.5-inch drone where the PCB is the frame.

Current Hardware Status

The design is at completion.

Key Hardware Updates:

  • Power System Revamp: Rebuilt the power delivery network to handle the high current demands of the motors while maintaining clean power for the logic.
  • PCB Stack: Using a 4-layer stack to ensure proper ground planes and signal integrity.
  • IMU: Using the ICM20602 for IMU data.

The Stretched X Frame

The Stretched X geometry is locked in. It provides that aggressive look and stable flight characteristics I’m after. Using FR4 as a structural element at this scale is challenging but yields a very clean build.

Stay tuned for the first firmware flash of the V1 prototype!
